What the Sea took back

On Saturday we sadly left our sculptures on the bay surprised that they lasted the full week. Last night my friend Judy told me that they had died a natural death on Tuesday when the tide was 7.7. A good way for them to go, all that remains now is a few little humps of sand where the sculptures once stood.

And so we bid a fond farewell to Mission Bay

Our last stab at sandart was a jellyfish. It actually looked pretty good, although pictures do not do it justice.

The dolphin and mermaid have begun to decompose.

Bye bye!!!!

Gladys the Mermaid

This is Gladys the Mermaid that we created on the beach today. I labeled her parts as she is a little difficult to see. She was also tricky to make and not our best work. We thought we were going to have to abort and turn her into a hammerhead shark, but we continued and completed Gladys.

Fire Crackers and Butt Crackers

We spent the 4th of July on Mission Bay watching the fireworks. Perhaps one of the best fireworks of the evening was performed by the teenage boys who had gathered on the bay below us to watch the fireworks. We looked down just in time to see one of the boys put a bottle rocket in another boy's butt crack and light it with a match. Unfortunately for the launch pad boy the rocket shot backwards. There were no fatalities. We suggested to them that next time they might try a sparkler eliminating control issues. Unfortunately it was too dark for pictures.

Another butt crack that mysteriously showed up on my camera. Anybody want to claim it?
