Kool-Aid Kool-Aid Tastes Great

When I was a child in the 1950's we drank gallons and gallons of Kool-Aid, ate lots of jello and dined on TV dinners. It was the dawning of the age of "artificial". The 70's came along with my three daughters who were fed homemade baby food, cookies made with very little sugar and unsweetened fruit juice with no artificial colors or flavors. As they grew older and began to go to friends houses they experienced the joy of candy, soda and fully loaded cookies. 100% natural mother was busted. Now that two of my daughters are married with children of their own their kitchens are filled with "organic" snacks and treats. I'm glad to see them restricting artificial flavors, colors and sugar, but I must admit sometimes I quietly hum:
Kool-Aid Kool-Aid, tastes great
Wish we had some, can't wait

American Home 1953

Last week while I was visiting Mary we ran across a June 1953 copy of American Home. She has no idea why she saved it. We had some laughs while we looked through it remembering the 1950's. This particular article caught my eye because I have never been good at folding fitted sheets. I brought the magazine home and followed the directions for folding. In the end I had a wadded up sheet resembling the others carefully stuffed in my closet.

The Colored Egg Part

Sweet Zachary colors the eggs while wearing his unibomber outfit

Ben is very meticulous with his eggs

Matt colors marshmallows, but mostly eats them

Rebekkah enjoyed the marshmallows as well

Andrew sees no reason to use the egg dipper, he just drops the eggs in the dye and pulls them out with his bare hands. The result is shown in the photo above.

Happy Birthday Elisabeth

Thirty one years ago tonight I lay in my bed watching the snow come down wondering if you were a boy or a girl, but pretty sure you were a boy........and then you were born a beautiful baby girl. We were thrilled!!!!

You made us laugh you made us smile

With your "triangle" hair and fashion flair

You met the man of your dreams

and gave us the"boys" of our dreams
Happy Birthday Ellie
